Rome, the Colosseum and many other interesting places made Italy one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. If you are planning to visit this country, you should know a thing or two. It is a member of the European Union, so rules and regulations are pretty much the same as in other countries in Europe. In order to get to Italy, you don’t need a visa, if you are a citizen of: US, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and a country that is a member of the European Union. In that case, you need only a passport. Also, citizens from these countries can live and work in Italy. If you are a citizen from a country that is a member of the Schengen Visa agreement, you can stay in Italy up to 90 days. After that, you must return to your country for 90 days and then you can go back to Italy. Citizens from other countries need a visa.

The official currency is the euro. There are a lot of banks and ATMs, and all major credit cards are acceptable. You won’t have problems with using a credit card at any restaurant or shop. The Italian cuisine is one of the best in the world, so you must try it. If you don’t like it, you can always have a pizza. You should know that a dinner is between 7:30-9:30 p.m. Also, bred is always served without balsamic vinegar and oil. Because lunch is very important for Italians, many shops (especially those at city center) are closed from 1:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Italians like having lunch at home with their family.
